Summon Monsters is a utility spell in ADOM. It allows the caster to create several monsters of one monster type in his/her vicinity. Summon Monsters is a very situational spell. As the in-game manual states, the monsters that are summoned by the spell can be hostile. In practice, appearing creatures are always either hostile or slightly hostile (according to 'l'ook command). If they are created slightly hostile it is possible that they will attack other creatures in the vicinity. Slightly hostile state typically persists for several turns and then is replaced by standard hostile state.

Description
| - Summon Monsters is a utility spell in ADOM. It allows the caster to create several monsters of one monster type in his/her vicinity.
Summon Monsters is a very situational spell. As the in-game manual states, the monsters that are summoned by the spell can be hostile. In practice, appearing creatures are always either hostile or slightly hostile . If they are created slightly hostile it is possible that they will attack other creatures in the vicinity. Slightly hostile state typically persists for several turns and then is replaced by standard hostile state.
Possible uses for the spell may include:
* Create meat shields to escape from dangerous monsters.
* Summon monsters to kill for loot.
* Summon monsters until a desired monster is generated .
* Summon monsters to kill for experience, weapon skills, etc.
The type of summoned monsters seems to be determined using the standard monster generation mechanism, taking into account danger level and the PC's level. The number of appearing monsters varies, but appears to have an upper limit which in turn depends on the amount of free space around the PC.

| - Neither the amount of monsters nor their friendliness towards the PC seem to be dependent on the spell proficiency or other attributes. As mentioned earlier, monsters' level is influence by the PC's level.
