Synopsis
  • Superboy is hanging out on the beach surfing when he's attacked by some strange being who's really a local named Chuck Ho. He has power which lets him transform into anything, and thought to use it to impress the ladies at the beach, but they just laughed at him. That night there is a luau with Superboy present and Chuck crashes as the Night Phantom, but makes a fool of himself again, just as a "space faring bounty hunter" named Dakani shows up ready to kill. Superboy gets her to back off, but Chuck escapes. Dakani calls her ship and promises Superboy that they're on the same side, even though she has zero patience for anyone on that world. She grabs a local girl who knows that Chuck is responsible and so SB insists on going along. Along the way, Dakani explains that what they're after is an alien symbiont that escaped experimentation. She tracked it as its taken new hosts--the longer it is with Chuck, the more powerful he will become. Chuck was just a local loser who was jealous of Superboy, so when the morphasite jumped him, he got drunk on the power. When he spots Dakani's ship, he turns into a large fire breathing rock monster and takes down the ship, which crash lands in a base ball stadium. Chuck assumes the form of a large battle suit, but Superboy's goading manages to get though to him. The morphasite abandons him and is collected by Dakani. She beams out and Superboy leaves Chuck with the police.
quotation
  • He was becoming interesting... in a Jim Carrey sort of way.
