In 1486, the barracks was raided by soldiers under the command of Silvio Barbarigo; Bartolomeo was captured and guards were positioned at the gates of the residence. However, Bartolomeo was liberated from prison by Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and accompanied by the latter, Bartolomeo overpowered the guards at the barracks and recaptured his residence, after which groups of mercenaries could be hired in the courtyard. Bartolomeo later coordinated with Ezio and his mercenaries within his barracks to plan their assault on the Arsenale di Venezia.
