Charles Peter Kennedy (born 25 November 1959 - 1st June 2015) was a British Liberal Democrat politician, who led the Liberal Democrats from 9 August 1999 until 7 January 2006 and a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ross, Skye and Lochaber constituency. He held his seat and its predecessor for 32 years before losing it in the SNP landslide of the 2015 general election. He died of liver cancer to a link of alchoholism
