In 1948 the McCormick Farmall C replaced the McCormick Farmall B. The C was longer, taller, and heavier than the B. It developed more power from a higher governed speed, 1,650 rpm instead of 1,400. The C was designed from scratch as a tricycle type instead of being a modified offset design like the B. The C had larger diameter rear wheels and straight axles instead of the previous drop-drive design. The straight axles made it much easier to change tread width.
