The Battle for the Cowl is the name given to the contest between Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Tim Drake (Robin), Jason Todd (Red Robin), and Damian al-Ghul (Son of the Bat) over who would be recognized as the new Batman. While Grayson had little interest in becoming the new Batman, he was forced into action after Todd began wearing a variant of the classic batsuit and tried to kill al-Ghul and Drake. Ultimately, Grayson and Todd battled one another, resulting in Todd falling to his death to avoid having to concede to Grayson. Dick Grayson thus became the new Batman and, as Tim Drake is apparently still recovering from his injuries, Damian al-Ghul has become the new Robin.
