abstract
| - Malthus Mabella (3840 - 3940) was the President of the Republic of Kirlawa from 3907 to 3909, the Leader of the Conservative Party of Kirlawa from 3875 to 3910 and the Chairman of the same party from 3910 to 3911. He served as a member of the General Assembly in Nuchtmark's 11th district from 3870 to 3950, and is considered widely by the Conservative caucus to be the Magnumite faction's most prolific member. Born in Indrala, Merkan, Malthus Mabella was a banker and commodities broker, before joining the party in 3867. He entered the legislature in 3870, and won the Party's leadership election in 3875, staying on for 35 years. During that time, he won the Presidential elections in July 3907, and became the third Conservative to hold that post, after Alexander Magnum and Malagasy Thatcher. After a party referendum to abolish the post of Chairman was passed, Mabella ceded his position to Thatcher and oversaw the transfer of powers from Chairman to Leader. He stayed on as a parliamentarian until the day of his death. In 3940, he passed away while on a visit to Selucia to conduct trading activities. He was 100 years old at the time. Mabella is known for being a libertarian and isolationist. He represented the Magnumite bloc of the Party and made attempts to withdraw Kirlawa from legislatively binding international treaties, sometimes through unscrupulous means. He was also in favour of small government and a stronger military, although these positions did not clearly manifest in his bills and proposals.
