  • The second branch of the Executive Branch of America's Government. The first branch being the Executive, or Bush Branch. The Congress votes on things for the President to sign into law. When the President signs them, he includes a statement at the end indicating whether or not he apporoves of the work Congress is doing. Somewhat like what a teacher does at the bottom of a student's homework. If the President is Republican, ideally Congress would act as a rubber stamp. According to Constitutional scholar Tony Snow, Congress does not have oversight abilities.

The House of Representatives has 435 members, each representing a congressional district and serving a two-year term. House seats are apportioned among the states by population. Each state has two Senators, regardless of population. There are 100 senators, serving staggered six-year terms. Both Senators and Representatives are chosen through direct election.

  • The Congress is the unicameral legislature of the federal government of the Kingdom of Lovia. Congress was erected only in 2003 and has since become Lovia's most powerful political body. It is responsible for all bills and constitutional amendments being signed into law, as well as for several other (executive) powers. The Congress convenes in the Capitol in Downtown Noble City. Members of the Congress are chosen through direct election by the people of Lovia who have obtained citizenship, in federal elections that take place in January of each year. Members of the Congress are chosen through direct election by the people of Lovia who have obtained citizenship, in federal elections that take place in January of each year. No new members of the Congress may be added until the next election year. The number of Members of the Congress is one hundred, unless one dies or resigns before the completion of their term, with the ruling monarch having a seat as an observer. The term of the Congress is one year, as it is required to undergo an election each year in December and January. In addition, extra elections may be held between the normal date. These are called special elections. The Congress selects a government to act as the executive branch of the federal government composed of ministries, of which its members lead. The current congress is the 2013 Congress.

Every two years, approximately one-third of the Senate is elected. Article I of the Constitution vests all legislative power in the Congress. The House and Senate are equal partners in the legislative process (legislation cannot be enacted without the consent of both chambers); however, the Constitution grants each chamber some unique powers. The Senate is uniquely empowered to ratify treaties and to approve top presidential appointments. Revenue-raising bills must originate in the House of Representatives, which also has the sole power of impeachment, while the Senate has the sole power to try impeachment cases. The Congress meets in the U.S. Capitol in Washington DC.

They must be residents within their states at the time of their election, but do not necessarily have to live within their districts. Then the Republicans came in and took the House. Now they like to blame Obama for everything. Oh and they gerrymandered all the districts so they'd win, even if nobody liked them. They even shutdown the government in one big temper tantrum where a lot of people forgot the meaning of the word "compromise." Opinion polling has found that sixty percent of Americans would fire every single member of congress, including their own representative. A seperate poll found that congress is less popular than colonoscopies, lice, used car salesmen, traffic jams, NFL replacement refs, root canals (yes, root canals).. Now that we've been through a government shutdown, there's a chance telemarketers, meth labs, and even playground bullies are more popular than Congress (not to mention North Korea).
