In December 2007, Smith starred in the critically acclaimed film-adaption of Jerome Bixby's The Man from Earth, co-starring John Billingsley, Richard Riehle, and Tony Todd. From 2003 to 2010, Smith had a recurring role as IAB Sergeant Rick Stetler on the hit CBS series CSI: Miami. During his time on this series, Smith appeared with such Trek veterans as Ed Begley, Jr., Alan Dale, Galyn Görg, Dina Meyer, Rudolf Martin, Kevin McCorkle, Sterling Macer, Jr., and Holmes Osborne.
