Pushkarev is known for his immense puck skills and speed, but has yet to crack a regular NHL lineup due to consistency issues. He is a great practice player but has up to this point never translated his skill to the NHL game level. Pushkarev scored his first NHL goal on January 8, 2007, against the Edmonton Oilers. He tied up the game 1–1 at the time but, however, Jan Hejda scored in overtime to give the victory to Edmonton.
