  • Gerald Sim (4th June 1925 - 11th December 2014) appeared on Coronation Street as Ted Farrell. A wartime sweetheart of Betty Turpin and father to Gordon Clegg, he briefly returned on a visit to the area in June 1982. Born in Liverpool, the family moved south to Croydon and he was educated at Cranbrook School in Kent, and graduated from RADA in 1945. He made his debut with an uncredited role in the 1947 film Fame Is the Spur. Other credits include roles in The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre, Z Cars, Crossroads, Dixon of Dock Green, The Avengers, Crown Court, General Hospital, The Foundation, Bergerac, Keeping Up Appearances and To the Manor Born. Other film credits include Josephine and Men, The Angry Silence, Cone of Silence, Whistle Down the Wind, Only Two Can Play, The Painted Smile, The Amorous Prawn, The L-Shaped Room, I Could Go on Singing, The Wrong Arm of the Law, Heavens Above!, The Pumpkin Eater, Séance on a Wet Afternoon, King Rat, The Murder Game, The Wrong Box, The Whisperers, Our Mother's House, Nobody Runs Forever, Oh!
