Steven Andrew Short (born April 6, 1954 in Roseville, Minnesota) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. He played 6 games in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings. He briefly played for the University of Wisconsin in 1972-73 and for the junior Minnesota Junior North Stars in 1973-74. He also played for the United States in the 1974 World Junior Championship. The Philadelphia Flyers chose him 142nd overall in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft while the Phoenix Roadrunners picked him 105th overall in the 1974 WHA Amateur Draft.

Short opted for the Flyers but only played minor pro from 1975 to 1977. In 1977 he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings and got in his NHL debut with 5 games for the Kings in 1977-78. A trade to the Detroit Red Wings got him into one Wings' game in 1977-78. He played until 1982 in the Detroit minor pro system.
