Sometimes, these stories included instances in which Superman may have fathered a child. Lana Lang often appeared as a rival, as well as Lori Lemaris and others, and even Supergirl. Later in the series' run, the title moved away from romance stories. In several issues, Lois took center stage in action-adventure plots inspired by Emma Peel from TV's The Avengers. Some stories saw Lois tackling social issues of the time, such as issue #106 in which she decided to live a day as an African-American woman. For a stretch between 1970 and 1973, Rose & Thorn appeared in the book in her own back-up stories. The title was canceled in 1974, but continued as a co-feature in Superman Family. The character has not yet had her own on-going series again, but a mini-series was published in 1986 under the name Lois Lane.
