  • A locality in New Harlem refers to any local entity from cities to villages in the Republic of New Harlem. Entities include the capital city Dufrunania, 8 cities, 16 towns and 24 villages. These make up 49 fixed authorities which (apart from the capital city) may upgrade or downgrade to a different status based on population censuses. In order to be classified as a city, the entity must contain a population of 200,000, for a town there is a minimum of 50,000. Any entity below 50,000 will be classified as a village. City names include the prefix dias- (derived from 'ddinas' (city) in Welsh), whilst town names include the prefix tref- (Welsh for 'town') and village names include the prefix bliof- (derived from 'blwyf' (parish) in Welsh). Each locality is part of 1 of the 5 'valleys' of New Harlem, a name given to what is New Harlem's equivalent of a province. The largest locality is the capital city, containing over a third of the overall population of New Harlem. The smallest locality is Bloifglailek, Dufrundrug with a population of 4,557 as of 2014.
