| - A native of Grant Town, West Virginia, Rodriguez graduated from North Marion High School in 1981 where he played four sports and was an all-state football and basketball player. After high school, Rodriguez attended West Virginia University. Playing as a defensive back, Rodriguez recorded 54 career tackles over three seasons.
- Rich Rodriguez is a second-year football head coach at U-M. He is the 18th coach in U-M football history, preceded by Lloyd Carr and only the 11th since Fielding Yost took over in 1901. Rodriguez came to Michigan when he was named head coach on December 17, 2007, after spending 7 years as head coach of West Virginia University, his alma mater. As head coach at WVU, he led them to a 60-26 record and four Big East titles. He also had 6 consecutive bowl games. To read more about his coaching history, go to [1]. Rich Rodriguez grew up only 5 miles from where the legendary Fielding Yost was born. With him, he brought a completely new style and playbook that the players were unfortunately not ready for. As a result, the team struggled to a 3-9 record.
