  • The key to the Crown Spires was shattered long ago and the shards were hidden around the world. The Church of the Shroud recovered the six of the seven shards of the key to the Crown Spires. The shards are guarded in the Temple of Phykrell in Greystone. In 8978, the Elders of the Church of the Shroud decree that Phykrell should remain imprisoned, they continued to draw upon his power. Loyalists in the church continue their efforts to free him. Loyalists stormed Falgoon Gap and recovered the final shard. The Shroud Elders were still balking at having the key restored and losing their power source, so the loyalists employed a thief to recover the six shards held in the Temple. Loyalists had the key remade in the Ebony Fortess in the Jasper Peaks and civil war broke out between loyalists and the senior church elders. Loylists broke through the defenses around the Crown Spires and liberated Phykrell. The church elders in Greystone directed the occupation of the Joda Desert in order to evade his displeasure. Phykrell declared the Crown Spires his new cathedral and ordained that the Church of the Shroud be purged of all who opposed his release.
