South Florida, Florida Sur, was formed under the conditions of the Treaty of Miami between Florida, Texas, and the United Republics. The United Republics liberated the Greater Miami Region from the Resurrectionist Florida. Florida at first was unwilling to give into the terms of the Treaty of Miami. However, after the Resurrectionist leader turned himself into a Zombie, Florida fell into a civil war. The people of northern Florida in Jacksonville, elected a new leader who immediately signed a modified version of the Treaty of Miami. The United Republics has installed coastal defenses and has built the Florida Sur in order to protect the Hispanic population there.
