The Mark II Droideka, sometimes referred to as the Battle-class Droideka, was a mechanized infantry unit in the Hutt Cartel and the Zann Consortium. The Mark II classification was a hybrid of Clone Wars-era vintage technology and 1 ABY-date combat technology. The original design was taken from the Trade Federation's original droideka droid, and was improved on by the Hutt Cartel on the foundry world of Hypori. The Zann Consortium raided Hypori in 1 ABY, defeating the Hutt Cartel garrison and taking the major machining lines and also the designs for the Mark II Droideka. Afterwards, these mechanized infantry units became a staple in the Zann Consortium's armies.

  • The Mark II Droideka, sometimes referred to as the Battle-class Droideka, was a mechanized infantry unit in the Hutt Cartel and the Zann Consortium. They were terrifying effective, just as their antecedents in the Clone Wars. With four high-yield laser cannons upgraded from the Mark I series for faster firing, Mark II Droideka units were especially effective in tearing apart infantry units with their repeating blasters. A favorite Zann Consortium tactic was to place these mechanical killers on elevated ground above chokepoints, where Mark II Droidekas could slaughter infantry units with their height advantage. With this tactical advantage, or even on level ground, several droidekas could decimate platoons, or even a company of enemy infantry. Mark II Droidekas were also equipped with advanced sensors that could track fast-moving targets, such as speeder bikes. While Mark II Droidekas were powerful against infantry and unshielded speeder bikes, shielded light vehicles were a common counter against their repeating laser cannons. Yet, the Hutt Cartel saw this potential problem, and armed droidekas with a secondary armament of two ion phase cannons. Droidekas could drain power away from their laser cannons to their ion phasers. These unusual prototype cannons fired ion bolts that passed through an enemy's shields. Several successive, well-targeted ion hits could disable any light vehicle, making the Mark II Droideka a versatile counter to many enemy units.
