It was first designed by Bolliger & Mabillard in the early 1990's. The first inverted roller coaster was Batman: The Ride at Six Flags Great America. It was built in 1992. The tallest inverted roller coaster is Alpengeist at Busch Gardens Europe. It is 195 feet tall. Other roller coaster manufacturers have also designed and built inverted roller coasters. Companies such as Vekoma, Intamin AG and Giovanola have also pioneered their own designs. Intamin AG have unique models classified as inverted coasters, although they incorporate powered launches. Vekoma install the Suspended Looping Coaster (SLC), with 26 identical installations of the 689m Standard built.
