  • Morti natives were a humanoid species native to the planet Morti. Centuries ago, Morti's sun died, forcing the inhabitants to construct an artificial one, which they trigger for only five hours each day to conserve its energy. Although they continued to live on the surface, they kept their farms underground, using transparent domes to let in sunlight. In 2266, the Morti natives were unaware that their planet was on a collision course with the planet Inicrust until they were alerted to the fact by a landing party from the USS Enterprise led by Captain James T. Kirk. Initially suspicious of the newcomers, the Morti natives were assured of their intentions and gave them a tour of their civilization. The planet and its inhabitants were saved from destruction when the Enterprise used a particle of the exploded star Doona to prevent the collision. (TOS comic: "When Planets Collide")
