Lori Singer (born November 6, 1957) is a Jewish American actress and cellist. She is perhaps best known for her role of Ariel Moore, the daughter of Reverend Shaw Moore (played by John Lithgow) in the 1984 film Footloose, which also starred Kevin Bacon. Madonna reportedly auditioned for the role of Ariel losing out to then relatively unknown Singer.
