The Covenant of Buddha was an artifact. It contained the original writings of Gautama Buddha, his precepts and teachings dictated and written in his own words. The importance in the Covenant was in its text, containing the words of the Buddha, it would have been able to unite every Buddhist across Asia under one true doctrine.
