Goblinization is a term used in the timeline of the role-playing game Shadowrun to depict an event that took place on April 30, 2021. Ten percent of the world's population suddenly transformed into new racial types, and the result of this transformation were the ork and troll races. Ten percent of the world's population suddenly transformed into new racial types, and the result of this transformation were the ork and troll races. This transformation caused widespread panic and a violent reaction toward the new races. In the following years racial discrimination against the orks and trolls continues, most likely because of their physical appearance and bias caused by old myths and lore. These new races differed from their mythical counterparts; they didn't live under bridges or eat children. Goblinization began on 30 April 2021. On this day many humans, without any evident reason, transformed into Orks and Trolls. In most cases, those humans started changing en masse before the very eyes of horrified spectators, causing much panic and alarm. This event made the population fearful and discriminatory, meeting metahumanity with hostility and sometimes force. Riots as a result of Goblinization escalated, especially after the 14th amendment of the UCAS constitution gave the same rights to metahumans, culminated into the Night of Rage in 2039. It has had a negative influence on Japan's metahuman policy, and goblinization is indirectly responsible for the formation of the Humanis Policlub. This event caused the Coffee Famine of 2022.
