This ritual is a common punishment for lesser crimes in Garou society. The Garou upon which it is performed will be completely shunned by other Garou. The length of the ostracism varies, and can sometimes be made permanent for particularly serious crimes. It is a dishonorable act for a Garou to knowingly violate the shunning and associate with the condemned, though in life-or-death situations, friends and packmates *may* come to the aid of the offender (but even then only grudgingly).
