A Thermos is a storage vessel that provides thermal insulation by interposing a partial vacuum between the inner container and the outer container. The term, thermos, has become a generic term for any vacuum flask. In 1988, Al Giordino brought a thermos with him on Table Lake, Colorado. He offered it to Dirk Pitt to help fight the cold more as a psychological effect rather than a physiological one.
