Blanton's debut came in 1973, when he competed at Charlotte. It was a solid day for the driver, starting 19th and running near the front before a late engine failure set him back to 20th. Blanton's next start came in 1974, again competing for Doc Faustina, but this time at Rockingham. Starting 27th in the field, Blanton lost his clutch halfway through the event but still managed an okay 28th place finish.

Blanton's next start came in 1974, again competing for Doc Faustina, but this time at Rockingham. Starting 27th in the field, Blanton lost his clutch halfway through the event but still managed an okay 28th place finish. Blanton's final career race, though, would wait until 1978, when the driver returned to Rockingham. Starting 34th in the field of thirty-six, Blanton only made it to a 32nd place finish following an early ignition issue.
