| - The Dark Knight is a canceled video game very loosely based on the film of the same name. The game was unofficially announced in the summer of 2007 to be developed by Pandemic Studios as an open world Batman game. No word was said on what kind of experience gamer would have or even which video game systems it would be available for. No word was ever heard again until the months preceding the release of The Dark Knight film. The game was confirmed, albeit not officially, on July 17, 2008 by actor Gary Oldman during an interview with G4's Kristin Adams. It is believed that the game will ship when the movie is released on DVD and Blu-ray, which was released on December 9, 2008. Little is known about this game. Speaking in a G4 interview, which is currently being hosted on GameTrailers, Oldman said he knew an awful lot of effort had gone into getting Batman's gliding abilities to feel suitably smooth and fluid. Oldman, who reprises his role as Lt. Jim Gordon, did not name a developer in the interview but anonymous sources point that The Dark Knight is a secret project of Pandemic Studios and EA. According to a Newsweek article, the lack of a game at the same time of the movie's release may have cost an estimated $100 million in missed revenue. Also, according to insiders at the Pandemic Studios office in Australia, the game had been canceled due to the game running behind schedule. It was announced by EA and Pandemic Studios that it would come out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.[1].EA announced that The Dark Knight game was in the making and was rumoured that the game would be released in mid-2009. It has been recently reported that the game has been scrapped.
