The personification of the Light as a White Dragon (and the Shadow as a Black Dragon, depending on the region) has begun to grow in popularity in the Southern regions of Fastheld. Though real Dragons are something very few people in Fastheld are very fond of (with the majority even going so far to claim that even saying the D-Word will cause them to take an interest in you), the idea of the True Light as a creature of pure light, watching over the people of Fastheld and protecting them from the evils of the world, has become a comforting thought.

Such personifications are also easier to explain to the common people, especially in the wake of the fall of the Church of True Light. The layman has difficulty grasping the concept of the Light as nothing and yet everything as a vast and omnipresent force. Yet giving the Light an anthropomorphic metaphor permits Priests and Scholars alike to describe and even draw their theological lessons in a way that even children can understand and take comfort from. Though such an adoption has not been promoted by the Imperial Cult nor supported by the Imperial Tribunal and Crown, letting the people have their fantasies has not yet spurred any official opposition, but nor has it garnered any support. Supporters of the image of the Light as a White Dragon cite that it is no different than likening it to a new dawn, or to a candle flame. Opponents reserve their collective judgment for now. Those north of Lightholder don't yet have an opinion either way, and are mostly clinging to traditional beliefs and metaphors left by the Church of True Light - even if most have trouble grasping them, and even if most harbor little love for the Scourges that still cause concern in the north. Meanwhile, there are rumours that there are some in the Empire who have forsaken both the Light and the Shadow, and have taken to the worship of the real Dragons themselves. In hushed whispers, those who are privvy to such rumours worry about what trouble these heretics may bring for the Empire...
