The Vault Door is an obstacle in Metroid Prime Hunters. It blocks the way to further areas of the Ice Hive and must be opened to get to said areas. Resembling a black door with a yellow circle on it, it is attached to two electric currents, which hold multiple Barbed War Wasp hives and pass over the room's Energy Routers. To open the Vault Door, Samus must activate the Energy Routers, destroy the hives, go back up to the top floor with the Jump Pad and activate the Door Controller Unit. After this, it will coil down and form a ramp for Samus.

  • Doors are designed with three safety features. The first is a caution zone marked by yellow lines on the floor. The second is an automated system that reverses the door if it detects an obstruction, and attempts at closing the door a few moments later. If the obstruction remains under the door, it will continue repeating this motion until powered off or the door finally closes. The final feature is a power box next to the door, which can be used to shut off electricity to the bulkhead and seal it. Under normal circumstances, the lamps on the power box are green. If the power to the door is cut using the switch, they glow red.
  • Vault doors appear in several missions in City of Villains. Generally there is loot on the other side of the vault door. To get to the loot, the vault door must first be destroyed. Typically, when a villain comes in close proximity to a vault door, several waves of security are summoned to the villain's location. After destroying a vault door, several more waves of security are summoned to the villain's location. This security is able to see cloaked or invisible villains, thus making powers such as a Stalker's Assassin's Strike very difficult.

The vault door is very tough to break through, and when it is destroyed, it appears to explode. However, when it explodes, there is no damage incurred on any villains in the proximity. There is experience and infamy awarded to destroying a vault door.
