  • Fidelma Ormonde was elected to the Senate in May 3152. Prior to her election, she served as President of Women for Choice, a pro-choice organization. In 3154, she contested the leadership of the Free Democrats. She won just under 12% of the vote. Newly elected Party Leader Josh Grierson-Ryrie decided to reward Ormonde for her strong performance in the election. He named her Chairwoman of the Athosian Free Democratic Party. As Chairwoman, Ormonde contested two general elections. In May 3156 she won 25% of the vote in her bid to become Premier and was appointed Deputy Premier. Four years later she won just 12% of the vote and decided not to take her seat in the Athosian Assembly. In April 3158, Ormonde was appointed to the cabinet as Minister of Education and Culture. She served in this position until October 3160. After Grierson-Ryie resigned, Elwood Quilty named Ormonde his Deputy Leader. After Quilty's death, Ormonde became leader of the Free Democrats but quickly announced that she would only serve as leader on an interim basis and that she would stand down after a successor was elected.
