__NoTOC__ This is a particular application of a light and deletion item-enchant. During one mission, Qura, a nascent spellcaster, blesses her magic-ignorant friend Richard with one of the few spells she had actually learned up to that point, antiae contacta, which literally translates into "delete upon contact". She enchants Richard's sword with it. Later, when Richard finds himself alone and in combat against a thieves' gang, he uses this "lightsaber" to devastating effect, slicing cleanly through every melee weapon others try to use against him (thereby disarming them) until he is bested by a lone archer.

Melee combat with a lightsaber makes all other weapons so useless by comparison so as to look like child's play.
