He played junior hockey for the Saskatoon Wesleys in 1937-38 and then for the Brandon Elks from 1938 to 1940. In 1940 Wycherley signed as a free agent with the New York Americans and played in 26 games for them, scoring 4 goals and 5 assists. In 1941-42 he played in two more games for the Brooklyn Americans, adding two assists to his NHL total. From 1942 to 1945 he played senior hockey in Toronto, mostly with the Toronto RCAF Flyers. He sat out the 1945-46 season and then played five more seasons of minor pro. Wycherley retired in 1951.
