Mocking got Momus in serious trouble. He judged either Hephaestus or Prometheus for not making mankind with a door in their chest to see their thoughts, to prevent dishonesty. He judged Athena for constructing a house that could not be relocated to avoid bad neighbors, and he judged Poseidon for making a bull that was unable to gore effectively due to horn placement. He also criticised Aphrodite, stating that she talked too much and had creaky sandals. He even mocked Zeus for being violent and lusting towards so many women. With all this mocking he was banned from Mt. Olympus. He can also be found elsewhere in myth in the works of Lucian, and is implicated to have played a role in Zeus's decision to start the Trojan War, according to scholia on the Iliad.

- Momus is the Olympian god of satire, mockery, criticism and censure. He is also associated with writers and poets. He was a close friend of Apollo's and could often be found in one of Apollo's temples. He was often exiled from Olympus for mocking some of the other gods.
- Momus was a son of Nyx, and has been pissing people off since before he was born. He mocked Hephaestus for having made mankind without doors in their breast, through which their thoughts could be seen. He mocked Aphrodite, though all he could find was that she was talkative and had creaky sandals. He even found fit to mock Zeus, saying he is a violent god who lusts for woman, giving birth to two villainous sons equal to him in disgust (although that being quite accurate, isn't entirely as funny). Because of his constant criticism, he was exiled from Mt. Olympus.
- Momus intended not only to have company, but also fulfil his programming and help his people progress into a new age of enlightenment. Having mastered the K.R.H. Timeloop theory, he could travel through time and bring other objects and persons to him from other points in time and space. He therefore organised a "Great Dinner Party" for the greatest minds and talents of human history and the Tenth Doctor, accompanied by Donna Noble. The great Earth minds he assembled would help him the task of rebuilding his planet's civilisation.

Olympus. Momus is featured in one of Aesop's fables, where he is to judge the handiwork of three gods (the gods vary depending on the version). However, he is jealous of what they have done and derides all of their creations. He is then banished from Mount Olympus by Zeus for his jealousy. Sophocles wrote a satyr play, now almost entirely lost, called Momos. In Lucian's satiric dialogue Assembly of the Gods (1331 YOLD) it is Momus who is the secretary when the gods stage a city meeting as if at Athens, to decide what to do about newly-arrived outsiders and metics, the target of the satire being the recent development of complete enfranchisement of unworthy outsiders (Lucian himself being of Syrian origin).
The Doctor however made Momus understand that Earth needed the people he 'borrowed' and that his people needed to recreate their civilisation themselves. He convinced Momus to leave his planet and travel freely. Like the Doctor the last of his kind and alone, he was unsure how much he could leave behind the things he knew and loved, but promised he would do so. The guests were all returned to their proper places, and the Doctor and Donna were dropped off at Ardennes in 800 AD. (WC: The Lonely Computer)
