Ord Noresh was part of the Ordnance/Regional Depot program of the Old Republic. Colonized in 12,000 BBY, the planet and the Sutar system that it is contained within is close to Adumar. One of the most valuable finds out of all of the Ords, the planet was found to be rich in metals and minerals. The estimated worth of all the minerals was in the trillions of credits, and multiple mining companies and business interests wished to get in on the action on the planet. Also the planet has two moons in its orbit, which also had large amounts of minerals and metals locked beneath the surface. A large number of settlers went there and began to colonize the planet. Because of the amount of untapped natural resources that the whole system had, the Senate wished to be careful about who was able to win

  • Ord Noresh was part of the Ordnance/Regional Depot program of the Old Republic. Because of the amount of untapped natural resources that the whole system had, the Senate wished to be careful about who was able to win the contracts. Various companies put forth bids, and then the lobbyists went to work. Lobbyists for different companies competed and gave different bids to the Senate. It took all of the companies a total of three years to properly survey the planet and the moons and determine how much there was to be had. By the time all of the contracts had come through and the revision process had been completed, another three years had passed. Once all the final revisions to the bids were done, then the debate took place on the contracts themselves and which one or ones would be signed by the Republic Senate. The entire process took a total of twelve years. In that time, the colonists on the planet worked at their jobs and at their lives.
