- "Feeling Good" was written by the songwriting team of Antony Newley (music) and Leslie Bricusse (lyrics) for the 1964 musical "The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd." Simone's recording was not released as a single, but became hugely popular following its use in a television commercial in the 1980s, and had subsequently become a standard. "Feeling Good" is one of three songs by Nina Simone to be featured in the show. The others are "Sinnerman" (“Witness”) and "Ne Me Quitte Pas" (“Flesh and Blood”). Each of the songs appears in a key scene involving Elias or Scarface.
