- Otherspace was a dimension beyond both real space and hyperspace. While it appeared to be a vast expanse of storm-gray nothingness, it did contain colored, swirling nebulae, and stars which were described as "shining holes of darkness."
- Original-theme space opera game created by Wes Platt.
- The Charon species were native to a planet within otherspace, a planet threatened by a nearby black hole. The presence of this interstellar disturbance caused an enormous amount of stress on the Charon's part. Before long, the stress twisted their culture, giving rise to a death-worshiping religion. The members of this cult believed that it was their sacred duty to speed all life toward the Void of Death. After eradicating all of those who were unbelievers—which meant destroying all sentient life—on their homeworld, the Charon developed interstellar travel, and continued their holy mission. Eventually, all that remained in otherspace was a multitude of barren, lifeless planets and a few biologically-engineered Charon starships roaming the void in search of any remaining traces of life.

Otherspace began in 1998, pulling influences from a variety of science fiction, including Star Wars, Star Trek, Farscape, Blade Runner, The Stainless Steel Rat series, the Lensman books, the Uplift Universe books and several others, and was heavily influenced by Babylon 5, adopting their Story Arc system for plotlines. Later influences would include Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, and Mass Effect. Has its own Wiki here as well.

In a multistage plan for his War of Darkness, Sivter had the Cult of Shadow develop the otherdrive, which allows ships to travel to and from otherspace. Once in otherspace, Sivter managed to convince the Charon that he was their mythical Prophet of the Void and began a process of outfitting all Charon ships with otherdrives in preparation for the war's endgame.

Later influences would include Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, and Mass Effect. Systems within the game include crafting, businesses, character organizations, and a space system with customizable ships for travel, exploration and combat. Characters currently occupy a dimension separate from the one that contains Earth, as Earth's dimension (called Normalspace) is slowly breaking apart and rifting into a different one (called Hiverspace). Hiverspace is populated by a wide range of alien races, just coming off of the end of a millennia-long war. After only a few years of peace, however, the god-descended Aukami and their Nall, Opodian and Thul allies have banded together to put the Aukami back in their place as gods over all of Hiverspace, and have discovered technology for ships to enter alternate dimensions to help in this effort. First-time players are encouraged to play a human from any era in history, ripped from their era via a rift and flung into the setting, so that the player can learn the setting as the character does. Has its own Wiki here as well.

However, Otherspace did contain colored, swirling nebulae, dark stars which were described as "shining holes of darkness", as well as natural sequence stars, such as those found in abundance across the galaxy. Black holes were extremely common in Otherspace, but had drastically different physical effects in space than black holes did in the galaxy, such as their visibility in the gaseous nebulae, the significantly reduced gravitational effects on matter, and the degree of radiation expelled from them. Dark matter was extremely concentrated in Otherspace, as was dark energy and pockets of anti-matter. Many species were known to have existed in Otherspace at one point in time, but were all eventually driven to extinction by the genocidal crusade of the Charon Dominion, who wiped out all other species with the exception of a select few vassal species. For most of galactic history, only very unique circumstances opened a "breach" between the galaxy and Otherspace, although the Hellmouth created a permanent wormhole that allowed transit between Otherspace and the rest of the galaxy. The creation of the Hellmouth led to the Extant War, between the Charon Dominion and the populations of the galaxy, and saw the first long-term, if fragile, alliance between the Jedi Order and Sith Order, as well as many other governmental powers. At some point during the Extant War, an invasion of Otherspace was attempted with "disastrous results" being the outcome, although no further information about the incursion was revealed. It is believed that the nature of Otherspace was so drastically different than the galaxy, that its perpetual darkness and interstellar disturbances had such grave psychological impacts that it gradually transformed the non-native precursors of the Charon into what they were. Although the Charon species was brought to extinction, the vassal species that overthrew them, namely the now-dominant Humans, were also believed to have been a product of this, having been psychologically warped into "twisted death worshipers". The Aperture within the Kathol Rift is the only known permanent bridge between the galaxy and Otherspace, although there has been known to be at least one other breach between the galaxy and Otherspace, in the Moddell Sector, near the forest moon of Endor. Known only by its moniker of "Otherworld", it was described as "a devastated wasteland filled with bones of dead animals and no vegetation". Likely a graveyard world brought about by the Charon crusade, the actual identity of the planet was never discovered.
