- A Triple winged version of TIE fighter with improved everything from speed, weaponry and shield. The TIE Defender is the most powerful high production fighter the empire had made.
- This ship is one of three that were added to the game as rewards for the Space Battles. Schematics for the TIE Defender can be purchased using tokens from these battles the Imperial Token Vendor. The Defender is an Advanced X-wing clone with one slight change. It has a 0.93 speed modification. This the middle ground between the X-wing's two speed mods: with its S-Foils Closed it has a 0.95 speed mod and with S-Foils open a 0.90 speed mod.
- Although the design of the TIE Defender is over a decade old, it still has proven to be one of the most deadly starfighters ever created. It is the perfect culmination of speed, maneuverability, and power. Three sets of angled quadanium solar gather panels cluster around the familiar circular cockpit. Using the latest in Sienar Fleet Systems technologies, a robust I-s4d solar ionization reactor powers the starfighter, while twin P-sz9.7 ion engines provide propulsion at an impressive 40 percent higher yield than the standard TIE/ln.
- The TIE/D Defender was a high-performance TIE series starfighter developed for the Imperial Navy by Sienar Fleet Systems shortly before the Battle of Hoth. Representing a shift in starfighter design from previous TIE models, the ship featured a hyperdrive as well as deflector shields to allow it to operate independent of Imperial capital ships. The ship's speed and agility, combined with its firepower, made it arguably the most advanced starfighter available at the time. This ship is a great tool, however it didn't make the first two games, because the ships took up to much space in an already overcrowded game.
