Shinobu Hashimoto (Japanese: 橋本 忍, Hashimoto Shinobu) (born April 18, 1918) is a Japanese screenwriter, director, producer, and was a frequent collaborator with Akira Kurosawa. He has won some 16 awards for his writing including a succession of Blue Ribbon Awards particularly in the 1960s. In 2008, Hashimoto's screenplay for I Want to Be a Shellfish (Watashi wa Kai ni Naritai), a post-WW2 war crimes trial drama based on the 1959 Tetsutaro Kato novel and made into a film that same year, is being remade and directed by Katsuo Fukuzawa.
