The "Kick Me" sign was a popular practical joke. A piece of paper bearing the words KICK ME was affixed to a victim's back without his or her knowledge, and usually resulted in the victim being playfully kicked — usually in the buttocks. Mark Dixon attached one such sign to George McFly's back on the morning of November 7, 1955, in between classes at Hill Valley High School. Marty and Doc witnessed Dixon and another student repeatedly kick George, who tried desperately to take the harassment in stride. It was all for naught, as the repeated kicks caused George to drop his books.
