Scott Ciencin's comics differ in many respects from its game and film counterparts. Because of this, Ciencin's comics are considered non-canon by some fans, although this has never been officially addressed. When Tom Waltz replaced Ciencin, Silent Hill became truer to its game counterparts, and can be considered in the same canon.
IDW has been publishing comics loosely based on Konami's Silent Hill series since 2003 by two different writers: author Scott Ciencin and writer/IDW editor Tom Waltz.
