| - Probably, the most widely recognized physical aspect of the elves, the "pointy ears" are a trademark of this race. Other species may have similar features, but there are no elves without their characteristic ears. Shape, lenght and even its alignment on the head vary - from Tolkienesque ones, that resemble normal human ones, albeit pointed, to massive Warcraftian hearing devices (the latter is also prominent in Japanese mangas, see Records of Lodoss War for example). They are not feline, nor rabbit-like. In most cases they grant exceptional hearing abilities, but this also may vary from setting to setting. We should not underestimate the impact of such long ears on a hypothetic elven society. Helms and headwear in general are designed to accomodate them, as in more dire form they tend to literally stick out. But least explored seems to be something what I like to call the Pillow Problem.
- Although not one of the most erogenous areas of the human anatomy, it's considered God-like in pure heterosexual sexiness to have one's ears positioned so that the right sticks out without the left doing the same. Considered 954 times more panty-droppingly effective than six-pack abs according to the New England Journal of Medicine and the Maxim Magazine June 2005 issue. Ears should never be confused with Bears, except for when talking about the ears that bears have, which are small, unattractive, and just as evil as the bears themselves, very Democrat-like in their inability to hear reason. Fake bear-ears that little kids or sexy women might wear on Halloween are somewhat more acceptable, but still basically the accoutrements of a careless, bad American. This article is a stub. - The ears are the internal and external structures responsible for sensing sound in the environment and passing the information to the auditory nerve. They are each made up of several individual structures which are usually divided into three general groups:
* The outer ear; the part which is exposed to the air, which includes the fleshy cartilage on the side of the head and the ear canal which leads to the outer eardrum
* The middle ear, which includes the inner portion of the eardrum and the three small bones which transfer vibration from the eardrum to the inner ear. This structure is connected to the Eustachian tube
* The inner ear, which includes the cochlea and the three inner ear canals, which help regulate balance and movement.
