- Tribune Rila was an Aquan female, native to the planet Argo. She was a Junior Tribune of the Ruling Tribunal of the Aquans. In 2269, Rila interceded in favor of Kirk and Spock at the hearing, alerted the rescue party when they were returned to the surface to die. Rila, Lemus and Nephro agreed to help them if they would in turn help her find a buried ancient city in ruins whose archives may contain a way to reverse the mutation. They discovered that the substance in their bloodstreams was similar to the ambergris of Earth whales. The reverse surgo-op mutation was induced by an infusion of an antitoxin made from the venom of a deadly giant sur-snake. This process was also effective to younger aquans who wanted to return to the surface after reverse their water-breathing mutations. Rila was present on the bridge of the USS Enterprise when phaser fire was used to stabilize Argo's seismic activity. (TAS: "The Ambergris Element") The voice of Rila was provided by Majel Barrett.

Diesem gelingt es Kirk und Spock zu retten. Anschließend wird sie von Montgomery Scott darüber informiert, dass es ein großes Seebeben geben wird. Gemeinsam mit Nephro und Lemus fangen sie die Argo-Wasserriesenschlange und gewinnen so ein Gegenmittel für die Mutation, welche Kirk und Spock die Fähigkeit genommen hatte Sauerstoff einzuatmen. Nachdem es der Crew der Enterprise gelungen ist, die Epizentren der Erdbeben von der Stadt der Aquaner wegzuverlagern, bedankt sie sich für die Hilfe. (TAS: ) Rila wurde von Majel Barrett gesprochen und von Michaela Amler (CIC) synchronisiert.

She resides at the monastery with one of her two sisters, Falere. Rila is first mentioned by Falere when Commander Shepard meets her on Lesuss while investigating a distress signal. Falere tells the squad that Rila was dragged by Reaper forces into the monastery's Great Hall to be turned into a Banshee and begs the Commander to save her. However, when Shepard tells her about the bomb intended to destroy the monastery, Falere becomes angry and accuses Shepard of not trying to help people. She sets off by herself to find Rila. After fighting their way to the Great Hall, Shepard finds Falere desperately trying to wake Rila, who appears to have fainted. Rila manages to regain consciousness, but she has begun to suffer the effects of indoctrination, and attacks Falere before being knocked out again. After Shepard holds off Reaper attackers from sabotaging the bomb, Rila is able to fight the indoctrination briefly and finds the bomb's detonator, insisting that Falere leave with Shepard while she stays behind and sets off the bomb. Falere struggles, but is dragged by Shepard to an elevator. Rila is attacked by several Banshees, one of which picks her up and mortally wounds her. In a final show of strength, Rila declares that the Ardat-Yakshi are not the Reapers' slaves and triggers the detonator.
