Gil Melle was the first composer of music for the Bionic franchise, crafting the understated score heard in the original Six Million Dollar Man pilot film, and later contributing music to The Solid Gold Kidnapping. His work was latter supplanted by that of Oliver Nelson (although some reference works erroneously credit Melle with composing the television series theme). Melle continued to compose music for a wide variety of film and TV projects up until the mid-1990s, including Darren McGavin's series, Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
