  • Born in Southern California, United States, bassist Tony Black started his career with the underground punk scene in Ventura and Oxnard California. There he performed and toured with the bands Stalag 13 and Dr. Know. In 1991 Tony joined the band Deli Creeps, who's freekshow performances can be found on many bootlegs and the nationally released Young Buckethead video series. After the Creeps disbanded, Black attended the Los Angeles Music Academy to study jazz harmony leading him to become a freelance bassist in the busy Southern California scene. Here Tony worked with a variety of different projects including the band Eyedentity, which at times featured guests like Airto Moriera and Flora Purim. Tony also worked with Screed, Honeycut, Jeff Witzeman and the Jealous Housewives, Neck, Solvent, Pru, David Hilder, Sharkbait, Wah, Damon Aaron, among others. In 2001 Tony took a hiatus from the music business to join Outward Bound as an instructor, working with at risk and adjudicated youth. After relocating to Asheville, Tony began playing for the psychedelic rock band Rufus Grove, which led him to also play in APB, featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Fame drummer Artimus Pyle. As of 2007, Tony is a member of Deep South, a Southern Rock supergroup which features members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Wet Willie, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Black Oak Arkansas.
