| - The Hon. Gregory Allen Parker (b. November 16, 1963) is a Conservative politician in Georgeland. he is the serving Mayor of Santa Christina, Georgeland's second-largest city, being elected to that position on June 30, 2008. Parker is the city's first Conservative mayor since 1988. Born in Lylecity, Parker was the third child of shipping magnate Brian Parker. He attended private schools and the University of Mainland, from which he graduated in 1985 with a business degree. Initially employed at his father's firm, Parker founded his own business as a stockbroker in 1989 and branched into investment banking in the early 1990s. His financial concerns made him considerably wealthy. He permanently moved to Santa Christina in 1992. Parker was one the first Georgelanders to use the Internet as a business enterprise. Parker is the owner and operator of several online businesses and has shares in many others. Parker's net worth, largely from investment, is estimated at approximately $48 million. Parker was elected as Borough President of South Weston in 2000. The Borough of South Weston is heavily Conservative and Parker was elected in a landslide. In 2004 he was re-elected against only token opposition. Parker had been considered the front-runner in the race to become the Conservative Party's candidate in 2008 - in March 2008 he was adopted as the party's candidate with 73% of the vote from the party's membership. In the election of June 30, 2008, Parker was elected Mayor over rivals Laura Wong and incumbent Jim Smalls. Since becoming Mayor, Parker has made traffic congestion his focus and has pledged to reduce inner city congestion by one-third by 2012. On September 7, 2008, Parker launched RoadWatch, a council-sponsored initiative which provides constant updates on traffic congestion via the internet. On January 25, 2009, Parker authorised the widening of two major arterial roads and was criticised for increasing congestion, though the Mayor's office has released figures suggesting that, when roadworks are completed in 2010, the expanded roads will carry up to 40% more traffic and reduce congestion in the surrounding region by the same amount.
