  • The Causeway was a road in the Eastfarthing of the Shire. It ran from Deephallow and went north through the small villages of Rushey and Stock; it then ended at the junction of the East Road. The road had high banks and followed parallel to the Brandywine (Baranduin) River, opposite Buckland. In The Fellowship of the Ring, Frodo, Sam, and Pippin rode in Farmer Maggot's wagon on part of the Causeway that led four or five miles to the Bucklebury Ferry, meeting Merry Brandybuck on the way.
  • Causeways appear in a variety of designs. Most commonly, the causeway will have two levels. They have also been observed with one level or three levels. On Installation 04, the causeways featured two levels, with glass floors on both levels. The glass floors on the top level were breakable, allowing you to drop down to the bottom level of the causeway. The bottom level's glass floors featured impenetrable glass.
