Previous - Germans approach America for an Armistice (CYOAH) Kennedy is successfully impeached and convicted for his abuse of executive power. Lyndon B. Johnson succeeds him as President. Johnson is reluctant to forge a peace with Nazi Germany, but faces little choice. Negotiations drag on for months, Germany refusing to cede any of its gains. In January 1963, a compromise is worked out. Germany would give up France and all lands of the former Soviet Union other than the Reichskommissarates of Ostland and Ukraine. Nazi Germany is torn between those who want to end the war and agree to the compromise, and those who wish to fight on.
