It may also be possible that the entity that wears this armor, could also be the corrupted souls of the human soldiers, now taken over by a genma soul instead. Another theory is that they were created by Guildenstern, as an elite hand to hand combat soldier. When Samanosuke fights Guildenstern in his lab, he is able to summon two Dark Puppets with his staff at will to aid him in battle. this adds possible evidence to this theory that the Dark Puppets were conjured by Guildenstern after learning how to resurect the dead. it seems that the different coloured souls they have, from green to red, are the weakest to strongest.
