Seongnam FC is located in Seongnam, Seoul, South Korea. They play in the highest league in South Korea, K-League. The club was founded in 1989 as Ilhwa Chunma Football Club. The club was successful from its beginning. Three years after founding, they won their first K-League Cup and won the title in the K-League three years in a row (in 1993, 1994 and 1995, specifically). But the club was forced to move to a place out of Seoul through the decentralization policy of the K-League. So the club moved to Cheonan, a satellite city of Seoul. The club took a new name: Cheonan Ilhwa Chunma Football Club.
