| - The Yavin Crisis happened when Eliana and a Nymean fleet under the command of Admiral Erstis moved into the Yavin system to occupy it. Unknown to them, Sal Maro was sending a small fleet to evacuate some Jedi researchers after being tipped off by Cobra. Cobra also tipped off the Vagaari and arranged for them to destroy the Nymeans and capture Eliana as part of an agreement he had with Vexen which he took farther than Vexen desired. The situation started calmly as the Nymean fleet sent scouts that reported no activity on the fourth moon of Yavin. The researchers did not have a fleet or any large equipment that would be detectable without an intense scan of the surface. The Nymeans entered the system unaware of the Jedi presence and began plans for settlement. Shortly after they jumped into the system, the Nymeans were ambushed by a fleet of Vagaari ships who set up an interdictor field around them. Before much else could be done, the Sal Maroian task force under Colonel Seth Gul reverted into the system early as they were pulled out of hyperspace by the interdictor field. The Nymeans turned and fled from the Vagaari in an attempt to keep out of their reach until reinforcements from the Corporate Sector. Colonel Seth Gul made the decision to attack the Vagaari rear guard after a moment of hesitation. The result was that several Vagaari ships were damaged or occupied fighting off the well armed and modern ships of the Sal Maro Navy. After some time had passed, Erstis decided that the Sal Maroian fleet had done enough damage to the Vagaari that they could win a confrontation. He ordered the fleet into a sweeping maneuver designed to double back and put the pursuing Vagaari in broadside range. Before that could happen, reinforcements of significant strength arrived in the system and spooked the Vagaari away. In the aftermath, the Vagaari lost the most, but the Sal Maroian fleet did not escape unscathed. They lost many crewman fighting the Vagaari even if they managed to rescue the Jedi crew off of Yavin IV. Instead of hostilities, Erstis and Seth Gul managed to make a moderately civil departure. Colonel Seth Gul formally forfeited the Yavin System to the Nymeans and allowed the Nymeans to take four disabled Vagaari ships. The political aftermath was farther reaching than the skirmish itself. For the Nymeans and the Sal Maroians, it opened the door for a mutual protection pact between the two entities. For the Nymeans and the Ni'novians, it caused tensions as both laid claim on the system and the Ni'novians were demanding the right to colonize and patrol it.
